Best Paper Award for CoboTank Publication at CogSIMA 2025
A publication from the research project CoboTank has been honored with the Best Paper Award at the international conference IEEE Conference on Cognitive and Computational Aspects of Situation Management (CogSIMA). This award represents a special recognition of the project team's work at one of the leading scientific conferences in the field of safety-critical human-machine systems.
The awarded paper, titled “Designing Human-Robot Collaboration for Semi-Automated Liquid Cargo Handling”, by Markus Nieradzik, Verena Staab, Nils Nover, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tobias Bruckmann, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dieter Schramm, addresses two key aspects of implementing a collaborative robotic application: the formulation of a robust safety concept for human-robot collaboration (HRC) and the systematic task allocation between human and robot.
Through well-thought-out task distribution and an intelligent safety concept based on hand-guided controls for collaborative operations, the approach significantly reduces the physical strain on operators and the required number of personnel—without compromising safety or situational awareness.
This award underscores the high relevance and innovative strength of the CoboTank project, highlighting that the developed approach to human-centered human-robot collaboration is forward-looking, even in challenging environments such as inland waterway transport.
