Stress Test on Board
20 November 2024 10:00
Over the past few months, our team has already successfully completed stress measurements in connection with the hose connection process in tank farms and on board ships. The aim was to analyse the physical and psychological stress of this specific work process in order to develop a supporting robot on this basis.
The physical stress was recorded using the CUELA measurement system from the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the DGUV (IFA), which provides precise data on musculoskeletal stress under real working conditions. The measurements were taken on board a ship belonging to the Deymann shipping company, while the hose connection process was observed in a tank farm in Hamburg. In addition, psychological stress was analysed by means of interviews and questionnaires in order to obtain a comprehensive picture of the work requirements.
The CUELA measurement system allows a detailed analysis of physical stress, supported by state-of-the-art sensor technology and automated evaluation tools. The findings from these measurements flow directly into the development of a robot, which is intended to facilitate the hose connection process and significantly reduce the physical strain on employees.
We would like to thank Reederei Deymann and all those involved for their support. This collaboration forms a crucial basis for the development of innovative work support technologies.
